What's been happening?

I have been away on holiday, so apologies for the lack of up-dates!! I will do a bit of a run down on the holiday over the next few days under the etc. part of the blog title! just to add something different before spring really gets under way, if you can stand it!!
I managed just a short visit this morning for just half an hour, there were a handful of Fieldfares just below the car park with around 15 Redwing and a Mistle Thrush was singing nearby, the wind was a biting little north easterly and there wasn't a lot of action on my way down to the lake, 3 Magpies,6 Carrion Crows and 4 Chaffinches were attempting to sing on and off. The lake was almost deserted all bar 2 Mallard and a couple of Moorhen. In the woods there were a few Goldcrests and a Bullfinch called from the edge of it. A small flock of 5 Long Tailed Tits had a Marsh Tit and a couple each of Great and Blue Tit. There were 15 Siskins in the alders and 2 Redpolls flew over, 2 each of Treecreeper and Nuthatch were also calling. Walking back across the park field a Green Woodpecker called and 5 Stock Doves took to the air followed by a female Kestrel. There were 2 Greenfinches in the car park when I got back to the car.
I spoke to Stephen this morning and he hadn't added any species while I've been away but he did have 9 Snipe a couple of days ago and the bunting flock was still in the same area as before I left. It was nice to have a quick walk this morning but it was a bit cold!!

Hi Alan.
Hope you had a good holiday, and managed to get some nice photo's. It seems as if you had a nice walk today.

Hi,

I had a great holiday thanks Ken, and it was nice to walk the patch again this morning, despite as you say Warren it being brass monkeys, a more accurate appraisal than mine for sure :-)

Cheers
