It was another very cool morning and the birds were fairly quiet again, a Wren called and a Dunnock ducked into cover as I walked passed the veg garden, a Grey Heron flew up from the lake and at least 4 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were drumming this morning. Every time I stopped to look or listen there seemed to be Long Tailed Tits at every spot, there were also a few Great Tits and Treecreepers calling. The highlight of the morning came when I stopped to look at a Marsh Tit and out of the corner of my eye a movement alerted me to a male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, it wasn't calling or drumming but showed really well on a dead branch for a few seconds before flying off towards some alders, a real treat!!
I headed out to the fields which again were devoid of song but a Little Egret flew over to brighten the scene and 4 Yellowhammers called from various points in the hedgerows, a really satisfying walk all in all.

Didn't manage to comment on your previous post , but will be looking forward to future episodes from Tanzania .
We did a similar trip 8 years ago covering Arusha National Park , then on to Ngorongoro Crater and finally the Serengeti National Park via the Olduvai Gorge .
Brilliant trip , and got the 'big five' .

You did well on your trip Greenie, it does sound very similar to our trip, we didn't get to Arusha National Park, I think we did Tarangire as an alternative maybe.What a place though I was on full adrenaline for the whole 8 days!! :-)
