This mornings walk was a bit of a rush, with only around 50 minutes to play with. I arrived just after Stephen, so we checked the car park together. It was again pretty busy there were at least 4 WILLOW WARBLERS, several BLACKCAPS, 2 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS, NUTHATCH, GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER a few GOLDFINCHES including several young birds. It was actually difficult to tear myself away! I did eventually and headed to the hedgerows, these seemed to have livened up again after last weeks lack lustre performance! There were good numbers of CHAFFINCH, REED BUNTING, YELLOWHAMMER, WHITETHROAT, BLUE TITS and GREAT TITS all moving along the hedge. I stood still briefly in a couple of places and was rewarded with my second REED WARBLER of the year.

Later when Stephen looked for the Reed Warbler he also found our second Stonechat of the year, a very speckly individual, not long fledged. The other piece of news I learned today was that a Common Redstart was seen in a garden in the village yesterday, it just needed to be a few hundred yards further east!

Another good list of species Alan, especially in 50 minutes.
Bad luck with the Redstart though, but you'll probably get another chance.
Hi Phil, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that Redstart :-)
Snap with the Reed Warbler Alan. Keep that months list going, i'd be interested to see how many species turn up at your site this August.
My missus says she would like to visit sissinghurst on Friday, so i might be paying the place a visit, i'll bring the bins :-)
Hi Warren, good to get the Reed Warbler, I'll have a go at the month list.
I'll drop you an e-mail when I get to work tomorrow if there is anything different about, I hope you have a good day :-)
