Feb 4th - quick walk
I did a circuit of the patch with Bec this afternoon, it was fairly quiet, a NUTHATCH broke the near silence and a few gulls quartered the fields by the road. A MARSH TIT joined the calling Nuthatch briefly in the wood and 26 MALLARD surrounded the only ice free bit water on the lake. A couple of COMMON GULLS kept the resident pigs company and as we neared the bridge in the field we disturbed a LITTLE EGRET a KINGFISHER (70), that puts the species list level with this time last year :-) The rest of the walk was fairly uneventful but I was really happy to see the Kingfisher. As we neared home 30 LINNETS were again in the hop field.

Alan ,
Well done with the Kingfisher , always nice to see .
Beautiful colors in the feathers! Lots of nice texture, too. Great work, Alan!
Always good to see a Kingfisher Alan. A real feelgood bird I think.
Beautiful Alan!!! Well done!
Good to get the Kingfisher now Alan, all the water will be frozen up this week, be difficult to find them then!
Well done Alan with the Kingfisher record, also nice Blue Tit photo.
Nice to see the KF in the current cold snap - lets hope conditions are not too harsh.
Hi Alan, well done on the Kingfisher, I can barely remember the last time I saw one!
I just noticed I missed your last post :-( What wonderful photos! They are all beautiful but my favourites were the Bullfinch and the Bluetit.
Hi Greenie, the Kinfisher was a nice surprise on the walk.
Hi BJK, thank you, Blue Tits can be really obliging sometimes.
Hi Phil, couldn't agree more :-)
Hi Tammy, thanks :-)
Hi Warren, I wonder if this freeze will bring any additions to the list?
Hi Steve, thanks, it's always great to see Kingfishers, I was beginning think they had moved on.
Hi Christian, at least I think the snow has finished for a while but the cold could still be a problem for some.
Hi ShySongbird, I always feel lucky to find a Kingfisher.
Thank you, glad you like the photos, I keep practicising, todays ones were a bit of a struggle in the snow, I'll try again tomorrow maybe :-)
Muy buena foto Alan.
Saludos!!
